Rapper Cardi B, real name Belcalis Almanzar, stepped up and pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts, one for assault and another for reckless endangerment.
One night back in 2018, the music artist caught herself in the middle of a fight at Angels Strip Club in Flushing in Queens, NY. Cardi accused one of the bartenders of having an affair with her husband, Offset, of the group Migos. Allegedly threw a bottle and hookah pipes at two bartenders, sisters Jade and Baddie Gi, and instructed members of her entourage to attack them.
The original indictment included 12 charges, including two felonies. The rapper continued to plead not guilty until now. Accepting her faults by taking the guilty plea has led the judge to drop all other charges except the two misdemeanors and she is sentenced to 15 days of community service in replacement of jail time. She also has a protective order against her which requires she stay away from Jade and Baddie Gi for at least three years.
A few sources and videos reported crowds cheered as Cardi B left the courtroom, however, not in a positive way for the rapper. Authorities stated they had never seen anything like this before.
Cardi B made a statement to the media, “Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions…I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most – music and my fans”.
