Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, 24, remains in critical condition Tuesday after suffering cardiac arrest mid-game on Monday night, his team said. According to CNN, Damar Hamlin’s uncle Dorrian Glenn said his nephew is “flipped over on his stomach” in the hospital to help with the blood in his lungs. Doctors also said that Hamlin is on his stomach to help take the pressure off the lungs, so they don’t have to work as hard, Glenn told CNN on Tuesday.

Damar Hamlin’s family released an update just before midday ET. It read: “On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country. We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they’ve done. Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us. Please keep Damar in your prayers. We will release updates as soon as we have them.” The-sun.com shared this information earlier today.

The next step is to get Hamlin, who is still sedated on a ventilator, to breathe on his own. Glenn said both of Hamlin’s parents are by his side and were at the game when he collapsed. Our thoughts and prayers are still with him and his family at this time. The Bills have reportedly returned to Buffalo. The NFL’s plan on whether or not the game will be restarted remains unclear.
