There’s a good reason we haven’t seen Summer Walker in the media a lot lately. She is currently in labor with her doula Erykah Badu. Badu’s daughter Puma, is being trained at this time to become a doula as well. Badu delivered Summer’s first child and also the second child of singer-songwriter Teyana Taylor and pro basketball player Iman Shumpert, Rue. Badu is elated that she is a part of Summer’s birthing process while being able to bond with her as well.
DONA.org tells us that a doula“ is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to their client before, during, and shortly after childbirth. This helps them achieve the healthiest most satisfying experience possible.
Summer announced her pregnancy with her on and off boyfriend LVRD Pharaoh back in June while she was on Instagram live. She was excited to be able to share this news on her own because she felt she missed the opportunity during her first pregnancy. She has also shared several photos of herself in seemingly comfortable pajamas as well as laying in the at home labor swing.
Badu took to Instagram with a post featuring her 18-year-old daughter Puma. She posted, “Peace peace .. MEET THE WELCOMING COMITTEE??,” Badu captioned the clip. “Mother – Daughter DOULA duty. Today I am training a very capable doula who is shadowing me while we assist a mommy in labor with twins.”
The comment led some fans to believe Walker is pregnant with twins. Neither Badu nor the “Insane” songstress have addressed the speculation. We are looking forward to more updates on her progress during this critical but astounding time as she prepares to bring life yet again into the world. She seems extremely excited and much more peaceful during this pregnancy. Summer nor Badu have yet confirmed the sex of the baby or her exact due date.
